We are assisting them on the appointment of a Head of Actuarial Function Solvency II Non-Life for European Legal Entities is a highly critical and visible role to support Group Actuarial functions as described below.

Your responsibilities will include.

  • Management of Dublin based non-life Solvency II actuarial team including defining roles and responsibilities for the team;

  • Presentations to the company Board and Legal Entity Management teams

  • Coordination of the Solvency II Technical Provisions on a quarterly basis;

  • Member of the Legal Entity Management teams and reserving committees which will approve the TPs on a quarterly basis;

  • Ensure continuous compliance with the Solvency II requirements regarding the calculation of the TPs, including appropriateness of the methodologies, models, and assumptions used;

  • Preparation of annual Actuarial Opinions on Technical Provisions (AOTP) and the annual Actuarial Reports on Technical Provisions (ARTP) to be presented at the same time as the AOTP to the Board.

  • Provide Actuarial Function Reports (AFR) on an annual basis to inform the Boards of the reliability and adequacy of the calculation of technical provisions and to express an opinion on the overall underwriting policy, the adequacy of reinsurance arrangements, and the ORSA process.

  • Support the production of the NL Underwriting Risk on a quarterly basis;

  • Assure sufficiency, appropriateness, completeness, and accuracy, of data used in the calculation of TPs;

  • Engagement of Reviewing Actuary (RA) to perform an independent peer review of the TPs every 3 years;

  • Working effectively with Risk and Finance teams to ensure successful delivery of required CBI deliverables;

  • Other actuarial functions as needed to ensure successful delivery of actuarial CBI deliverables;

Group Actuarial functions

Support in peer analysis and independent quantification of Legal Entity loss reserves and to provide insight and transparency of reserve movements and trends on a quarterly basis

Work closely with underwriters and pricing actuaries as needed to ensure a deeper understanding of loss reserves

About you

  • Strong management and people skills including career development of team members

  • Work effectively with Risk, Finance, and Underwriting teams

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, especially in relation to CBI, European Legal Entity Boards, and Legal Entity Management teams;

  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and team player;

  • Self-motivated with a commitment to meeting deadlines

  • Advanced IT skills; a hands-on individual who is comfortable using MS Office and a variety of modeling tools

  • Some travel might be required

Qualifications & Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have the Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA), Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuary Society (ACAS/FCAS), Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA/FSA) designation or equivalent designations recognized by the Central bank of Ireland (CBI)

  • Prior successful experience in the functions outlined above is preferred;

  • Non-Life actuary with at least 15 years non-life actuarial experience including significant experience managing actuarial teams

  • The ideal candidate will have prior non-life Head of Actuarial Function experience which includes effective Board presentation skills

  • Strong understanding of Solvency II framework and CBI guidelines;
